Suns’ Kevin Durant Named 2025 NBA All-Star Starter

The NBA announced the starters for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game on Thursday night and to no surprise, Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns was named a frontcourt starter for the Western Conference.

Durant will join both LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets in the West frontcourt while Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City were named the starters for the West backcourt.

This was well-deserved for Durant, who narrowly beat out Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs for final starting spot in the West frontcourt. This is Durant’s 15th All-Star appearance and the second time he has made the All-Star team as a member of the Suns.

Of course, Durant has had a great season thus far. The 36-year-old superstar is averaging 27.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 52.3% from the field and 38.4% from three-point range this season.

While Durant has had a great season, it has not led to much success for the Suns. Phoenix currently holds a 22-21 record, which has them sitting 10th in the West standings.

Durant may also not be the only Suns’ player who makes the All-Star game this season as Devin Booker will likely be named a reserve when they are announced next Thursday on TNT.

Fans can catch the 2025 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 16 in San Francisco on TNT with tipoff coming at 8:00 p.m. EST.
