Team USA is set to kick off the Abu Dhabi leg of its Olympic preparations on Monday when they battle Australia. As it turns out, fans should expect a major change in the squad for this upcoming tune-up game.
In particular, we’re all set to witness Anthony Edwards‘ first start of the campaign come Monday.
Team USA News: Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum to Star Vs. Australia
The USA defeated Canada during its first exhibition game last week. Stephen Curry and Jrue Holiday got the nod to start in the backcourt, while Devin Booker, LeBron James, and Joel Embiid took on the three remaining spots in the starting five.
According to league insider Joe Vardon, there will be at least two changes in the lineup for the Australia game, with Edwards and Jayson Tatum both entering the starting five:
There will be lineup changes tomorrow against Australia, as Steve Kerr has said. Look for Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum to start, based on this video footage shared by USA. https://t.co/hU7MJAkqLN

At this point, it is unclear which two players will get asked to give up their starting spots in favor of Edwards and Tatum. If I were to make a guess, it would probably be Holiday and Booker that get sent to the bench.
There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Edwards on the national squad, especially after the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar declared himself as the No. 1 option on the star-studded roster. Well, the 22-year-old will get a chance to show what he can do as a starter on Monday.
You can be sure that Edwards will do everything in his power to make sure that this change becomes a permanent one heading into Paris.
