Tim Steidten has accepted West Ham United failure after what he did in transfer window

West Ham United made many changes to their squad during the summer window and have still failed to do much with their new arrivals.

Despite the new players coming to help bolster the Hammers, it still feels as if the club are somewhat lacking in certain areas.

Granted, one of their main problem areas of attack was targeted in the window with Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville being brought in.

But, perhaps the biggest shock of the window was the fact that West Ham signed only Max Kilman and Jean Clair-Todibo while getting rid of Nayef Aguerd, Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

Tim Steidten now appears to be scrambling to cover that shortfall.

West Ham United still looking at new transfers

Since the transfer window closed, the Hammers have been linked with two centre-backs, John Egan and Joel Matip.

The Irons even held a trial for Egan and deemed that he wasn’t the right man for the job [ExWHUEmployee]. He has since gone on to join Burnley.

Matip is also said to have been offered a two-year-deal with the club but a decision hasn’t yet been made by either party [Caught Offside, 5 September].

While both players in their prime were solid, the pair are now coming off the back of serious injuries and are also knocking on a bit in terms of Premier League football.

It looks as though Steidten has accepted that he failed in this aspect during the window, and is looking for a get-out-of-jail-free card at the London Stadium.
