The AHL Toronto Marlies have hired Steve Sullivan as an assistant coach. He will now be part of John Gruden’s coaching staff.
Steve Sullivan, 50, previously served as Assistant General Manager of the Arizona Coyotes from 2017 to 2021, managing their AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners. Before that, he was involved in Arizona’s player development, where he worked as a coach and director in 2016-17.

During the time that Steve Sullivan served as the Arizona Coyotes’ Assistant General Manager, which was from May 2020 to July 2021. the Coyotes’ managed to put together an overall regular season record of 57-55-14.
During Steve Sullivan’s tenure as the General Manager of the Tucson Roadrunners, the team achieved great success. Under his watch, the Roadrunners posted a record of 112-65-11-6. This strong performance included winning two Pacific Division Championships in three seasons. Sullivan’s managing style played a key role in establishing Tucson as one of the top teams in the Pacific Division during that period. The Marlies are hoping he can bring his expertise to their squad with the hopes of winning a championship as well.
A native of Timmins, Ontario, Steve Sullivan played 1,011 NHL regular-season games and 50 playoff games with several teams, including the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, and Nashville Predators. He scored 290 goals and added 457 assists in his NHL career.
Steve Sullivan was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the ninth round, with their 233rd overall pick of the 1994 NHL Draft, and defied all odds by having a fantastic NHL career despite being one of the last players picked in the draft that year.

The Toronto Marlies are the top development team for the Toronto Maple Leafs, with 82 players having progressed to the NHL since 2005.
