Heading into the new NBA season, the Boston Celtics will be looking for Jaylen Brown to lead the way. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP is set to step into a larger role within Joe Mazzulla’s offense due to Jayson Tatum’s injury-forced absence. As such, Brown will likely emerge as the primary scoring and shot creation option, while also being tasked with a sizable role in locking down the perimeter.
Brown will undoubtedly relish the challenge of proving he can be a number-one option in the NBA. He’s shown that ability for small stretches, but this will be his first opportunity to prove himself over a full schedule of games. However, a recent trade proposal by Bleacher Report has floated the idea of sending Brown to the Detroit Pistons, where he would immediately operate as the second option behind Cade Cunningham.
Adam Pellerin and Ountae Campbell of NESN’s “Hold My Banner” podcast recently shared their thoughts on the trade idea and discussed whether parting ways with Brown would be a good play for Boston, both in the short and long term.
