Triple boost as Villa players begin to return for pre-season training

With the new Premier League season drawing closer, Aston Villa players have begun to return to Bodymoor Heath for pre-season training this week.
While Unai Emery will prepare his side for our first summer outing next Wednesday night against Walsall, which is followed by a tour in the USA where the bulk of our preparation will be done, these initial few days will be key for the players to get back up to speed.

The entire squad won’t report back given we have some individuals still on international duty, but the majority of the group will gradually return to the training ground this week as we get our pre-season work underway.

Importantly, and perhaps the most welcome sight for many on Monday, was seeing Tyrone Mings, Emiliano Buendia and Jacob Ramsey involved in gym work and drills as they return from long injury layoffs.

It’s unclear at this stage as to how heavily they will feature in our pre-season schedule, but having seemingly gone through gruelling rehabilitation processes respectively over the past year, it’s hoped that they will be able to get valuable minutes starting next week.

Nevertheless, it was important to see them within the group on Monday to ensure that they’re ready to get straight to work, while the likes of Matty Cash, Morgan Rogers and Alex Moreno all struggled with injury setbacks of their own towards the end of last season, and they were all present too.

Summer signing Samuel Iling-Junior was also pictured at training, while it’s unclear at this stage if others were present too, or if there is a staggered strategy to reintegrate everyone in the coming days.

Nevertheless, it’s an exciting time as we edge closer to seeing Villa back in action, and as we try to build on last season and become increasingly competitive, it’s hoped that we can get everyone fit, keep them healthy and ensure that they hit peak condition and form just in time for the new Premier League campaign next month.
