West Ham respond on deals being close for Carlos Soler and Tammy Abraham

West Ham have opened up on claims that the club is closing in on deals for Carlos Soler and Tammy Abraham before deadline day.

West Ham are working on several deals before Friday’s transfer deadline – both in and out.

Kurt Zouma is on the verge of leaving and the Hammers hope Nayef Aguerd will follow.

West Ham are considering paying off Danny Ings to leave and James Ward-Prowse could be sold – with Nottingham Forest reportedly interested.

Maxwel Cornet would also be allowed to leave if any offers came in too.

Shipping players out of West Ham is now essential before the close of the window.

Especially if the club want to bring players in this week, which they – and head coach Julen Lopetegui – have confirmed they do.

West Ham respond on deals being close for Soler and Abraham

PSG outcast Carlos Soler looks likely to be the first signing West Ham make if they can ship players out.

The Irons have also been increasingly linked with longstanding target Tammy Abraham.

Ollie Watkins’ slow start to the new season has given Jhon Duran more game time than usual.

The Colombian is now pushing for a start at Villa. That makes the possibility of the 20-year-old joining West Ham on loan with an obligation highly unlikely this week.

Overnight West Ham were suddenly linked again with Eddie Nketiah too.

But reports in Spain, France and Italy all continue to insist West Ham are on the verge of signing Soler and Abraham.

So what are the club saying on those rumours?

‘We are trying but it’s difficult’

Hammers News put the claims to the top spokesman inside West Ham and the response is interesting.

“We are trying to get deals done but struggling to get players out to release the wages and fund arrivals,” the top West Ham spokesman told reporters.

“We need to move players as we have no money and no slots.

“Sadly we are spent out at the moment. The new Premier League rules are very tough.

“It (Soler) could happen late in the window, but less than 50/50 at the moment.”

A club source also went into detail regarding the Abraham rumours when speaking to Hammers insider Sean Whetstone.

He suggested the departure of Ings and Michail Antonio might need to leave for that to happen.

“Despite continuing reports on Tammy Abraham to West Ham club sources say there is no real substance in the reports due to the transfer fee and wages,” Whetstone said.

“Roma want to recoup as much of the £34m they paid Chelsea they can while the striker would want at least £100,000 per week to join the Hammers.

“The only scenario where this might change is if Michail Antonio and Danny Ings were sold before the end of the window but that remains unlikely as it stands.

“Reports on Raheem Sterling have been dismissed outright saying his wages are massive and we have enough wingers.”

Hammers could take tally to 10 if players leave

Should West Ham manage to move players on and bring in Soler and a striker it would take the summer rebuild tally to 10.

Then it will be up to Lopetegui to knit it all together on the pitch.

And there have already been positive signs in that sense with West Ham much more competitive in terms of possession, passing and shots.

Any West Ham transfer business must be concluded by 11pm on Friday.

Although the Saudi window remains open until September 2nd – meaning there is more time for the likes of Zouma and possibly Aguerd to depart.
