Wizards’ Rookie Alex Sarr Fails To Score A Single Point On 15 Shots

The Washington Wizards’ rookie Alex Sarr, who was selected second overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, produced one of the worst shooting performances in the history of Summer League in a recent 80-82 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Sarr finished the game with zero points despite attempting 15 shots while also missing two free throws. According to ESPN, this is the most attempted shots without a make in summer league games since 2017.

Sarr’s stat line for the Blazers’ game also included nine rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots.

In his three summer league games so far, Sarr has demonstrated great defensive skills but constantly came short on the offensive end. He is averaging 6.7 points while shooting just 19.5% from the field and 50% from the free throw line.

After playing for two years for Real Madrid’s youth team, Alex Sarr moved to the United States to play in the Overtime Elite league. He spent two seasons in the league before joining Perth Wildcats of Australia’s NBL for 2023-24. Sar played 27 games with the Wildcats, averaging 9.4 points and 1.5 blocks per game.

His defense and projected high ceiling have made Sarr one of the favorites to be selected first overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. He ended up falling to second after the Atlanta Hawks opted for his compatriot Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 pick.
