Although there was a lot of hype about the Los Angeles Lakers’ father-and-son duo of LeBron James and Bronny James, Anthony Davis made sure he was not going to be forgotten after he put up a scintillating performance Tuesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves at home.
Davis was a force on both ends of the floor. It was clear who the best player was in the Lakers-Timberwolves game, as the former Kentucky Wildcats star poured in 36 points to go with 16 rebounds, four assists, a steal, and three blocks in 38 minutes on the floor to help the Lakers score a 110-103 victory.
Did Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis take a shot at Rudy Gobert?
Even after the game, Davis continued to make a big statement. During a postgame interview , Davis appeared to take a subtle shot at Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert, who is the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year – an award that he has also won four times overall, so far in his career.
“Defensive Player of the Year type stuff,” Davis said in the interview when asked about his thoughts on his incredible performance on that side of the court.
Davis is easily one of the best defensive players of his generation but he’s yet to win DPOY. Last season, he finished fourth in the voting for that award.
Davis and the Lakers will look to get their second straight win to start the 2024-25 NBA season this coming Friday when they welcome the Phoenix Suns in Tinseltown.
