The Green Bay Packers had practice today, and in attendance at that practice was former Jets head coach Robert Saleh. His history with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur goes way back.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was the best man in Saleh’s wedding. He spent the entire open portion of practice on the offensive side of the field. They were assistants together at Central Michigan in 2004 and then again with the Texans from 2008-2009.
Jeff Hafley and Robert Saleh use to work together with the 49ers
Robert Saleh is a great defensive mind in knowing how teams might adjust and attack an offense. He can help teach this young Packers team how to read the defense throughout the game.
Robert Saleh and Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley together coached with the San Francisco 49ers, as well. He’s done a phenomenal job with the Packers so far.
Saleh’s departure from the New York Jets
Robert Saleh got fired by the New York Jets on Oct. 8, 2023. The Jets went 2-3 during that time to start off the season. Ever since his departure the Jets have went 0-2 losing to the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Saleh was fired by New York and will continue to make $20,000 a day from the Jets. He had a 20-36 record with the New York Jets with Zack Wilson, Mike White, Tim Boyle, Joe Flacco, Trevor Sieman and Aaron Rodgers at quarterback.
Jordan Love’s thoughts on Robert Saleh in assisting with the Packers offense
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s impressions on Robert Saleh helping with the Packers offense:
“Having a defensive mind talking offense and helping us with things he might be able to see, some of our scheme stuff, things the defense might be looking for, it helps.”
Matt LaFleur on Saleh’s role with the Packers
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said in an interview that Robert Saleh will help monitor the Packers offensive line. He clarified that Saleh would remain with the team until Thursday, however it is not ruled out that Saleh will remain in this “informal” role for the rest of the season.
LaFleur emphasizes Robert Saleh won’t be influencing the defensive side of the ball. He’s here to give the offense tips from a defensive perspective.
