Steelers sign OT Dylan Cook to practice squad

After a tumultuous last week, offensive tackle Dylan Cook is back with the Steelers. Per a team announcement, Pittsburgh has signed Cook to the practice squad.

Cook spent 2023 on the Steelers’ 53-man roster but was placed on injured reserve ahead of the 2024 season. He returned to practice in mid-October and was activated on Oct. 30, just to be released the next day.

However, Cook has since cleared waivers and returned to Pittsburgh, this time on the practice squad instead of the 53-man roster.

A former quarterback turned right tackle in college, Cook has shown promise as a talented-yet-raw O-lineman during his time with the Steelers. The third-year player now gets more time to develop on the Steelers’ practice squad.

Pittsburgh’s current rostered offensive tackle depth consists of Broderick Jones, Dan Moore Jr., and Calvin Anderson, as well as guards Max Scharping and Spencer Anderson, who have some experience at tackle.

Following the roster move, the Steelers have filled their practice squad, but the team still has two spots open on the 53-man roster (one will be filled by reinstated cornerback Cam Sutton). Pittsburgh takes on the Washington Commanders in Week 10.
