Dallas Cowboys Are Named One Of The Best Landing Spots For This Amazing Player

The Dallas Cowboys received horrible news on Tuesday morning: Starting quarterback Dak Prescott will be sidelined with season-ending hamstring surgery, ending the team’s playoff hopes.

The only thing Dallas has to look forward to now is the NFL Draft next April. There is a great chance they won’t be taking a quarterback since they signed Prescott to a long-term deal before Week One, but they could be targeting the best overall player in the draft.

According to tankathon.com, the Cowboys would have the 11th pick in the draft if the season ended today, and that would most likely take them out of the possibility of drafting one of the top three players who is not a quarterback. However, there is still a long way to go this year, and with how bad Dallas is playing, there is a shot they will land in the Top Five.

One of the players in this upcoming draft that all teams will be fighting over is Colorado’s two-way player, wide receiver/ defensive back Travis Hunter.

Dallas Cowboys Named Landing Spot For Hunter

Trevor Sikkema from Pro Football Focus published an article on Tuesday titled 2025 NFL Draft: Best landing spots for Colorado’s Travis Hunter and has the Dallas Cowboys on this list, stating.

It feels too obvious, but this landing spot is the inverse of what we have already planned for Hunter with other teams. The Cowboys have DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs, two of the NFL’s top play-making cornerbacks when it comes to takeaways. So Hunter would primarily be a receiver next to CeeDee Lamb in Dallas. That could be enough of a reason to like this landing spot.

But selecting Hunter would also give the Cowboys a ton of flexibility. Bland has one year left on his rookie deal before hitting free agency. Perhaps the Cowboys are big spenders in free agency this offseason with edge defender Micah Parsons‘ contract extension looming. They might be strapped for cash at that point, and Bland could hit the market next offseason. If they had Hunter, they could plug him into an outside cornerback spot and acquire other receivers to lessen his workload there. That’s ideal flexibility.

It would be interesting to see Hunter play for the Cowboys, but some have suggested that Dallas take the other star Colorado player quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, and pair him up with his father, Deion, as the head coach.
