Bruins Assign Top Prospect To AHL & Recall Forward

The Boston Bruins have announced that they have re-assigned forward Georgii Merkulov to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins. In addition, forward Marc McLaughlin has been recalled from Providence.

Merkulov, 24, appeared in three games with Boston during his latest call-up. He recorded his first career NHL assist on Nov. 16 against the St. Louis Blues. He also had five shots on goal during his three-game call-up.

Merkulov has two goals, 11 points, and a plus-2 rating in 13 games this season with Providence. He is one of the Bruins’ top prospects, so Boston will hope he continues to produce well in the AHL.

McLaughlin, 25, has been off to a solid bounce-back season down in Providence. In 15 games this season with the AHL squad, he has five goals and 10 points. This is after he had eight goals and 14 points in 68 games last season with Providence.

McLaughlin has played in 14 games with Boston over three seasons, where he has four goals and 10 penalty minutes.
