Ravens waive veteran safety one week after not making trip vs. Steelers

One week after the Baltimore Ravens publicly announced veteran safety Eddie Jackson would not join the team on their trip to face the Pittsburgh Steelers, the club announced they’ve waived him.

According to reports, Jackson was displeased by his reduced role. Both Jackson and safety Marcus Williams have been benched in favor of Kyle Hamilton and Ar’Darius Washington, and the frustrations mounted by Jackson, ultimately ending his time as a Raven.

Jackson ends his tenure with the Ravens with 16 receptions allowed on 23 targets for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Jackson had one forced incompletion and two dropped interceptions, according to Pro Football Focus.

Originally, Jackson’s addition was looked at as a high-upside move to see if Jackson could resurrect the dominant play he had in 2018-2019 where he earned First Team All-Pro and two Pro Bowls. Instead, he leaves as the No. 86-ranked safety by coverage grade by PFF (49.0) out of 97.
