Rams’ Jared Verse goes viral for destroying humongous Eagles tackle

Jared Verse on Sunday proved why he fully deserved to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Verse’s Los Angeles Rams led the Philadelphia Eagles 7-4 midway through the second quarter at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. With the Eagles facing 3rd-and-16 at the Rams’ 19-yard-line, Verse blew up a play almost by himself.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts dropped back to look for an open receiver. But Hurts was quickly forced to scramble after Verse bulldozed 6’8″ tackle Jordan Mailata to collapse the pocket. Check out the unreal play Verse made below:

Verse is no small man himself. Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 260 pounds, the Rams rookie is massive compared to the average human. But Mailata has four inches in height and over 100 pounds on Verse. Watching Mailata crumple to the ground shows just how explosive Verse is when given a head of steam.

Hurts ended up running out of bounds well short of the sticks. The Eagles had to settle for a field goal to cut the deficit to 7-6.

Verse may not have gotten a sack on the play, but the result was arguably just as impressive as any QB takedown.

The Florida State alum entered Sunday’s game with 4.5 sacks and 42 combined tackles through his first 10 NFL games.
