Rams receiver arrested on suspicion of DUI hours after catching TD

A Los Angeles Rams wide receiver was arrested after Sunday Night Football.

Veteran Demarcus Robinson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Robinson was reportedly observed driving more than 100 mph on northbound U.S. 101 in Woodland Hills at approximately 5:13 a.m. on Monday. The arrest happened hours after he caught a touchdown in the Rams’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to a news release, officers “observed objective signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment.” TMZ Sports was the first to report his arrest.

“I do believe that Demarcus (Robinson) has a good heart and never would have any ill intentions. And clearly there was a decision that’s not in alignment with the things that we want to be about. I know he was remorseful about that,” Rams coach Sean McVey told ESPN.

“I don’t think this makes him a horrible human. I think he made a bad decision and I think we are fortunate that there … wasn’t anything else that occurred as it relates to affecting anybody else in a negative way or himself from just an overall safety and health perspective.”

Robinson, who is in his eighth NFL season since being drafted by Kansas City in 2016, has been a key player for the Rams amid injuries to star pass catchers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

He has 26 catches for 384 yards and six touchdowns this season.
