The New York Jets have some big decisions to make this offseason.
Whoever they hire as general manager will be tasked with getting the franchise back to contention.
And judging by the way Aaron Rodgers played this season, that might mean moving on from him.
The Jets could look to add a rookie quarterback.
When asked about that possibility, the often cryptic Rodgers was actually a great sport about it.
Rodgers claimed that he would be open to mentoring a young quarterback, adding that if he were to play, he’d try his best to play good enough to keep him on the bench nonetheless:
‘If they ask me back & they drafted a guy, I’d mentor the hell out of him if I was playing & I’d try to play as well as I could to keep him on the bench,’ Rodgers responded.

The veteran quarterback has been criticized for his demeanor in the past, but this is exactly what you’d want to hear from a player of his caliber.
Rodgers has to acknowledge that he’s inching closer to the end of his career, and even if he were to turn back the clock and have a strong season in 2025, the Jets still need to think about the future.
There have been mixed reports about Rodgers’ future with the organization.
Some claim neither party is interested in extending this partnership, but it doesn’t sound like it based on what he’s said.
Aaron Rodgers, as great a player as he is, comes with a lot of baggage.
If he’s not playing up to his usual standards, the team might want to reconsider whether that’s a burden worth carrying.
