Finishing the season well has got to be the aim for Nottingham Forest as they prepare for their final two matches.
The Reds’ Champions League hopes were dealt a blow with Sunday’s 2-2 draw at home to Leicester City. However, the point gained means Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have qualified for some form of European competition.
Next up for Forest is a trip to face West Ham United on Sunday (2.15pm kick-off). Below is a look at the Reds’ injury state of play ahead of their journey to the capital.
Taiwo Awoniyi
Injury: Abdomen.
What we know:The Reds striker collided with a post while trying to latch on to an Anthony Elanga cross late on against the Foxes. He received treatment and there was confusion over whether he would be able to continue. In the end, he came back on but was clearly struggling for the remaining minutes.
What has been said: “Unfortunately we had to play the last 10 minutes with one man less. T (Awoniyi) gave it a go but it was too painful for him to really push and help the team,” Nuno said afterwards.
“There was a misunderstanding between the coaching staff and the medical department. We had the heads up to make a sub, then T tried but he could not.”
Murillo
Injury: Suspected hamstring.
What we know: The defender appeared to be in some discomfort in the latter stages of last Monday’s draw at Crystal Palace. With less than 10 minutes to go, he required some treatment on the pitch and then limped off in the 81st minute. He was replaced by Morato as the visitors held on for a point and was then not involved against Leicester.
What has been said: “He has been able to do part of the training sessions,” Nuno said in Friday’s pre-match press conference ahead of the weekend’s clash. “But we still have to assess him tomorrow better.
“He is doing part of the training session, not the full session. Hopefully for Sunday.”
Callum Hudson-Odoi
Injury: Hamstring.
What we know: An uncomfortable-looking Hudson-Odoi trudged off down the City Ground tunnel at half-time of the 2-0 defeat to Brentford at the start of the month. He appeared to indicate he had suffered a problem. The 24-year-old was then replaced by Nicolas Dominguez for the second half.
He was not part of the squad at Selhurst Park but was watching on from the away end and took time to take pictures with some Reds fans. He also missed Sunday’s game.
What has been said: “He is improving but he is not going to be available for this game,” Nuno said ahead of Leicester. “Hopefully he can feature again this season.”
Eric da Silva Moreira
Injury: Unknown.
What we know: The young defender sustained an injury while on duty for Germany Under-19s last month. He was included on the bench for Forest’s defeat at Aston Villa but did not get on the pitch and has not been involved since.
What has been said: “He got injured with the Germany Under-19 national team, in their second game. He has been out for two or three weeks now,” Nuno said of Moreira earlier this month.
