Sunderland officially names new captain Granit Xhaka, he feels proud

Granit Xhaka is considered a born leader.

And, Sunderland’s managers, who transferred the Kosovar star a few weeks ago, were also aware of this.

The Swiss representative was even entrusted with the captain’s armband, given his leadership and vast experience.

Even today, the English club made official the decision to entrust the defensive midfielder with the captain’s armband via social media.

“Granit Xhaka, new captain of Sunderland AFC,” the English club wrote.

The former Basel, Borussia Monchengladbach, Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen footballer said he feels proud to have been entrusted with this responsibility and privilege.

“It makes me incredibly proud to be the captain of this club and this team. I hope to show my leadership on and off the pitch, helping my teammates in the training ground and across the club,” said the 32-year-old.
