Nottingham Forest have confirmed the deadline day signing of defender Cuiabano from Botafogo.
The 22-year-old left-back has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Reds.
Cuiabano is the fourth player to make the switch from Botafogo to the City Ground this summer. He follows Igor Jesus, Jair Cunha and John Victor in completing a transfer between the two clubs.
The Reds had hoped to bring in Cuiabano when they signed Jesus and Jair earlier in the window. Botafogo owner John Textor confirmed Forest’s interest in all three players at the time, but a deal for the full-back didn’t get done amid Brighton and Hove Albion sniffing around.
It has been a busy window for the Reds as they have worked to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad. Jesus, Jair, Victor, Dan Ndoye, Angus Gunn, Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Douglas Luiz and Nicolo Savona had all been added to the group prior to deadline day.
Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson, said: “This summer has been about ensuring we have quality and depth in every position, whilst also identifying talented young players from across the world who can play a crucial role in our long-term development as a club. Tracked by a lot of clubs, Cuiabano is an exciting player with a lot of potential. At just 22 years old, he has already gained significant experience for a player of his age and we are excited for what his future holds.”
