Fulham have handed Leeds United and any other clubs sniffing around a potential January transfer swoop for striker Rodrigo Muniz a fatal blow with news of a new contract for the player.
The talisman’s previous deal was due to expire in the summer of 2026, although the Cottagers did hold the option for another 12 months. Muniz had been hotly linked with a move to Elland Road during the summer window with the Whites looking to bring in options up front ahead of their return to the top flight.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano carried reports of interest in the player from Leeds United with the Yorkshire Evening Post claiming that a £32 million bid for Muniz had been rejected by Fulham. Leeds United then went on to sign free agent striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin but, with Muniz named a ‘top target for much of the summer’, there was a feeling that another move could be on the cards.

Serie A side Atalanta were also rumoured to be in the transfer race for Muniz but any swoop has now become much more difficult. Fulham confirmed that Muniz had signed a new long-term contract at Craven Cottage on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old is now on the books at the Cottage until June 2030 with the club holding the option of another year. Muniz told FFCtv: “I really want to thank God. I’m very grateful, and I would like to thank the Club for having trust in me. I would also like to thank my family, my friends in Brazil, and all the fans. I would like to thank everyone. It’s an amazing feeling to stay here and to have this contract and to safeguard my future.”
Rodrigo Muniz signs new contract at Craven Cottage
Muniz joined Fulham from Flamengo in 2021 and has gone on to net 27 goals in 104 matches, despite never nailing down a starting role in the side. He has had to compete with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Raul Jimenez during his time at the club.
The striker scored nine Premier League goals in the 2023/24 campaign and then bagged eight last season. He has netted against Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. Speaking about the player, Fulham owner Tony Khan said: “I’m thrilled that we have extended the contract of Rodrigo Muniz until at least 2030. He’s a great professional, revered by his teammates, staff, and Fulham supporters, and he’s scored some very important goals for the Club! I’m very happy that Rodrigo will be with us for many more seasons!”
