A pair of Carolina Panthers fans have shut down their podcast because watching the team has become too much of a misery-inducing experience.
Stephen Costner and Jerry Dempster, co-hosts of the “MeowMix” podcast, issued a statement Wednesday revealing they are going on an indefinite hiatus from recording new episodes. The pair said that they simply cannot justify putting in the effort to create new episodes when watching and analyzing the team is such a chore.
“The amount of time on Sundays that we spend away from our wives and children has become difficult to justify,” the statement said. “We would be watching the games regardless, but locking ourselves away for 6-7 hours on a Sunday just to watch, and then discuss, a 42-13 a– whipping has become more of a chore than anything else.”
The fans said they plan to continue watching the Panthers, but will not promise any new episodes for the remainder of the season.

There are numerous podcasts focusing on each individual NFL team, but needless to say, it is rare for one to shut down because of how depressing the team itself is. On the other hand, the Panthers are 8-30 since the start of the 2023 season, including a 1-3 start to the current year. In general, they make more headlines for their ineptitude than for anything they successfully do on the field.
Costner and Dempster are far from alone in their frustration toward the Panthers. With what appears to be another lost season underway, one can hardly blame the two for not wanting to put a great deal of effort into analyzing the consistent poor performances.
