The Philadelphia Eagles suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday, a shocking upset at home at the hands of young quarterback Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos. The Eagles finally established thier passing attack in the game, although star running back Saquon’s efficiency seemed to take a step back.
Now, it appears that there may be a reason for Barkley not managing to live up to his usual lofty production on Sunday, as the Eagles have confirmed a brutal injury for their star running back, who was awarded with a lucrative contract extension this past offseason.
“The #Eagles listed RB Saquon Barkley as a non-participant on their estimated injury report because of a knee injury,” reported NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Queue all the ‘no way you could have predicted a down year’ when almost every RB of the last 20 years to hit 400 touches the year before has a down year the following year,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“ducking the giants since he knows they own him lol,” another fan added.
“And just like that the Eagles are no longer playoff contender,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Eagles look if Barkley is forced to miss a significant chunk of time.
