Fulham and Liverpool played out an eventful draw this afternoon, with no shortage of late drama on display as the contest ended 2-2 at Craven Cottage.
The home side led at halftime thanks to a goal from Harry Wilson, although Liverpool would respond well in the second half. Florian Wirtz equalised for the visitors just before the hour mark, before Cody Gakpo looked as though he had won it for Arne Slot’s side in stoppage time.
However, there was more late drama to come.
Fulham would score a stunning equaliser in the dying moments of the game, with Harrison Reed producing a stunning long range strike.

While the two late strikes were the main source of drama, some have questioned the decision to award a goal earlier on in the game.
Jamie Carragher Thinks VAR Made Error By Awarding Liverpool Goal
Florian Wirtz scored his second goal for Liverpool this afternoon, although there was a lengthy delay before the strike was awarded. The linesman had initially flagged for offside after the ball found the back of the net, with initial replays suggesting that the decision was a correct one.
However, the goal would eventually be awarded.

While the goal was given, stills from the incident still look as though Wirtz was offside in this instance.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher was baffled that the goal was given, hinting that the VAR may have made an error on this occasion.

“He looks offside to me.
When you’ve got the lines (on the pitch), there’s the line going through the penalty spot, he definitely looks like he’s further forward.
I know sometimes the angle can fool you at different times, but the fact that we’ve got the penalty spot to look at, I just can’t believe that has been given.”
The decision went Liverpool’s way on this occasion, something that has not always been the case in recent weeks.
Despite getting what looked like a stroke of luck for this goal, Slot’s side were not able to capitalise on it by going on to win the game.
