Rams Acquire Super Bowl Champion From Chiefs in Shocking Trade: Report

The NFL offseason is now in full swing, and a flurry of moves has already taken place ahead of the new league year, which begins March 11.

The latest and most surprising trade unfolded Wednesday afternoon, as the Los Angeles Rams acquired All-Pro cornerback and two-time Super Bowl champion Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

While Kansas City is looking to clear cap space and retool its roster after a disappointing 6–11 season, the Chiefs received quite a haul in return: the Rams’ first-round pick (No. 29), as well as a fifth-, sixth-, and 2027 third-round pick from Los Angeles.

Trent McDuffie spent the last four seasons in Kansas City after being drafted out of Washington in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He now joins a young but ascending Los Angeles Rams defense that helped the team reach – and nearly win – the NFC Championship Game this past season before falling short to the Seattle Seahawks.

Additionally, the Rams still hold a first-round pick in this year’s draft: the rights to the Atlanta Falcons’ No. 13 overall selection, giving them another opportunity to add a prominent piece to the roster.

McDuffie has started all 56 games in which he’s been active over his four seasons with Kansas City, compiling three interceptions, 34 pass deflections, eight forced fumbles, 5.5 sacks, 246 tackles, and 12 tackles for loss.
