Nuno tells Portuguese media what’ll happen in Nottingham Forest v Porto

West Ham United manager Nuno Espirito Santo has offered his view on Nottingham Forest’s upcoming Europa League clash with FC Porto, with his comments drawing attention back to his former club.

Speaking to Portuguese TV this week, Nuno was asked about the tie between Forest and Porto. While he made it clear his focus remains on West Ham, he still gave a clear expectation for the game.

“I confess I am not looking much at that competition, the Europa League,” he said.

However, he quickly added his assessment of the fixture, which is highly anticipated in Portugal.

“But it will be a very competitive game. Porto are one of the best teams in Portuguese football, and Nottingham is full of talent. It will be a complicated and competitive match, for sure.”

Nottingham Forest context still relevant

Nuno Espirito Santo’s comments carry extra weight given his recent connection to Nottingham Forest. Earlier this season, he had a short spell in charge at the club before moving on.

That background means he still has a strong understanding of the squad. It also explains why his words are being picked up in Portugal ahead of the tie.

From a West Ham perspective, this is more of an external observation than a direct concern. Still, it shows how closely Nuno continues to follow the English game beyond his current role.

Focus remains on West Ham duties

Nuno Espirito Santo also made it clear that his attention is firmly on West Ham’s immediate priorities. The Hammers are preparing for key domestic fixtures, including an FA Cup clash against Leeds United.

That context explains his earlier remark about not focusing heavily on the Europa League. His day-to-day work remains centred on West Ham’s schedule.

Even so, his view on Nottingham Forest v Porto is straightforward. He expects a balanced and demanding contest, with quality on both sides.

Either way, the Hammers’ manager is aware of what is happening elsewhere, but his priorities remain clear.
