Karl-Anthony Towns praises ‘One of a Kind’ Knicks unsung hero after Game 2 win

The New York Knicks are now just two wins away from ending a wait of more than 50 years after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 105-104 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals and taking a 2-0 series lead.

While the Knicks’ stars have made a major difference so far, their bench unit has also played a key role in both victories in San Antonio.

One of those contributors is Mitchell Robinson, who underwent finger surgery just before the series but has still delivered important minutes for New York, making clutch plays on both ends of the floor.

After Game 2, Robinson received high praise from teammate Karl-Anthony Towns, who highlighted his late-game defense against Victor Wembanyama and called him one of a kind.

“I think on the last possession, it was the best defense he played on him all day, and there was no better time for him to do that,” KAT praised Robinson postgame.

“Mitch is a hell of a defensive player, and you expect him to make the best effort defensively. It just speaks to his resiliency, too — going out there, playing with the injury, and coming up with the biggest play of the game.”

“It just speaks to, again, how important he is to our team and the impact he has on our team.”

“He’s one of a kind. I don’t know if there’s another Mitch Robinson in the league. I only think there’s Mitchell Robinson. There’s only one of him. We’re honored and blessed to have him,” Towns said.

In 14 minutes of action, Robinson finished with 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal.

Game 3 will be played on Monday in New York.
