Chairman Nicholas Randall KC has set out Nottingham Forest’s intention to “retain the core” of their squad this summer.
Speaking about the Reds’ summer plans last month, Vitor Pereira said he wanted to keep the crux of the dressing room together and add a few key signings. Although Forest may well lose Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, Randall has doubled down on the head coach’s message in an open letter to supporters.
In his letter, Randall said the Reds want to sign “players of genuine quality” as they tweak Pereira’s squad. He also underlined the club’s commitment to redeveloping the City Ground and increasing the stadium’s capacity.
Randall said, “As we look ahead to the 2026/27 season, our message is clear. We are stronger together.
“Our intention is to retain the core of this talented squad while strengthening in key areas during the summer transfer window. We remain committed to bringing players of genuine quality to Nottingham Forest, but equally important are the personal qualities and character that reflect the values and culture of our football club.”

Forest first announced their intention to update the City Ground in 2019. Seven years on, work is yet to begin, and the Reds’ plans have changed significantly since they were initially unveiled.
The latest proposals, submitted in January, are for a complete overhaul of the ground and a goal to ultimately host 52,500 fans. However, work cannot start until the proposals have been approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council.
Randall said, “Earlier this year, we were delighted to announce that season card prices would remain the same for the upcoming campaign. We were also pleased to reintroduce the Young Adult category, helping to make Premier League football more accessible for the next generation of Forest supporters. Mr Marinakis (owner Evangelos Marinakis) fully understands the importance of ensuring football remains affordable while we continue striving to compete at the highest level.
“Our long-term ambition remains unchanged. We want more supporters than ever before to be able to enjoy Premier League football at the City Ground.
“While I am unable to provide a further update today, please be assured that significant work continues diligently behind the scenes alongside the relevant authorities as we pursue our vision of creating a world-class stadium and sporting venue that all Forest supporters can be proud of for generations to come.”
Randall also used the open letter to reflect on the season just gone for the Reds. After finishing seventh in the previous campaign, they found themselves in a relegation battle this time around.
A turbulent year saw Pereira become the club’s fourth head coach of the campaign when he was appointed in February. He steered Forest to safety and also led them to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
Randall thanked fans for their support and said: “Now that the dust has settled on another memorable campaign, I am sure it is one that we will all look back on with great pride. Throughout the highs and the challenges, your support never wavered. The connection between this football club and its supporters remains one of our greatest strengths and something we never take for granted.
“We all recognise the immense competitiveness of the Premier League, widely regarded as the finest football league in the world. When the new season begins in August, Nottingham Forest will embark upon a fifth consecutive season in the top flight. While we were unable to replicate the heights of the previous campaign, we take great pride in securing our place in the division once again while also competing with distinction in the UEFA Europa League.
“Together, we experienced unforgettable occasions and created memories that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. Seeing Forest supporters fill stadiums across Europe from Seville to Istanbul and Herning to Porto and sharing in those special moments was a source of enormous pride for everyone connected with the club.”
He added: “Finally, I would like to wish all of our players representing their countries at the FIFA World Cup the very best of luck. To all of our supporters, thank you once again for your loyalty and support throughout another remarkable season.
“I hope you enjoy a well-deserved summer with your family and friends. On behalf of everyone at Nottingham Forest, I can assure you that we are already looking forward to welcoming you back to the City Ground in August.”
