Fulham FC Foundation is proud to launch SucSESS, a new community programme in Roehampton supported by the Premier League and the PFA and in collaboration with Ryan Sessegnon. The programme is designed to use the power of football to support the physical wellbeing, confidence and personal development of young people aged 10–13.
Fulham through and through
Having grown up in Roehampton, Ryan is no stranger to the areas surrounding Craven Cottage and Fulham FC’s Training Ground at Motspur Park. His Fulham journey began when he joined the Club’s Academy at Under-9 level alongside his twin brother, Steven. He made his first-team debut at just 16 years old in a League Cup victory over Leyton Orient before embarking on a remarkable rise through the game.
Ryan’s breakthrough season saw him collect numerous individual honours, including Championship Player of the Season, EFL Young Player of the Year and the Championship Apprentice Award, while also earning a place in the EFL Team of the Season. Following a move to with Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, Ryan returned to Fulham in the summer of 2024.
Now, he is helping to inspire the next generation through a programme rooted in the community where his own football journey began.
Support young people in South West London
Based at Roehampton Leisure Centre, SucSESS will support young people from underserved communities who may have limited access to positive activities and enrichment opportunities, experience low confidence, or be at risk of disengaging from education and other positive pathways.
While football will be at the heart of each session, SucSESS is about far more than the game itself. Drawing on experiences and lessons from Ryan’s career, participants will explore themes including confidence, resilience, managing pressure, discipline, teamwork, communication, focus, empathy and positive self-presentation.
Alongside weekly sessions, participants will also benefit from six enrichment experiences in school holiday periods, creating opportunities to engage more closely with Fulham FC and broaden their experiences beyond the programme.
Ryan Sessegnon spoke on the importance of the project: “Growing up in the area, Roehampton means a lot to me, so I’m really happy to launch SucSESS with Fulham FC Foundation. I want to use football to give young people a positive space where they can enjoy themselves, build confidence and develop skills that will help them both on and off the pitch.”
Paul Foley, Director of Operations at Fulham FC Foundation, said: “SucSESS is about using the power of football to create opportunities for young people in Roehampton to be active, build confidence and develop skills that will support them beyond the pitch. We want to create a positive and supportive environment where young people can have fun, build meaningful connections and develop positive habits that support their physical and mental wellbeing, and set them up for success in their future endeavours.”
Yacine Signoret, Business Development Lead said: “We’re incredibly pleased to be launching this programme with Ryan. From day one, he has shown a real commitment to the project and a genuine desire to use football to make a positive difference in the community.”
“For us as a Foundation, working with a player who is passionate about giving back is hugely valuable, and we’re excited to have him at the heart of this initiative. Together, we’re creating opportunities for young people in Roehampton to develop skills, build confidence and access experiences that can have a lasting impact on their lives.”
SucSESS was made possible by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Fund. Administered through the Premier League Foundation, the funding helps football club charities and player foundations to work with players to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.
