Ipswich confirm double signing after winning promotion back to Premier League

Ipswich Town have announced the permanent signings of striker Chuba Akpom from Ajax and defender Cédric Kipré from Stade de Reims.

Kieran McKenna’s side won promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking with their final day win over QPR last week.

Akpom will join on a permanent basis following his loan spell this season.

The 30-year-old played 31 times for Ipswich in all competitions this past season, scoring two goals.

Ipswich say that a “permanent move was subsequently triggered during the course of the 2025/26 season” after joining on an initial loan.

His deal runs until 2029 and will come into effect on July 1.

Kipre, meanwhile, also spent the season on loan at Portman Road and has triggered a deal to make him a permanent Ipswich player on a deal until 2028.

“It feels brilliant to be officially part of this massive club after everything we have achieved together,” Kipre said.

“I have loved being here since the first day I arrived. Everyone welcomed me so well and it didn’t feel like I was on loan, so I’m delighted to become a permanent player.

“I can’t wait for next season and it will mean a lot to represent this club in the Premier League. It’s been my dream and I’m very, very happy.”
