Yankees Reportedly Replacing Aaron Judge With Prized Prospect Ahead Of Red Sox Series

The New York Yankees will take on the Boston Red Sox this week, but will be without Aaron Judge.

Judge is slated to miss 4-6 weeks with a rib injury and will be unavailable in a series that the Red Sox hope can get them back on track. Things may not be going great for the Red Sox this season, but there is time to turn things around, and a series win over the Yankees could get them on a roll.

No official transaction has been made to place Judge on the injured list, but one figures to come before Friday’s game. According to YES Network’s Jack Curry, the Yankees will recall Spencer Jones to replace Judge.

Jones made his debut earlier this season and is the Yankees’ No. 6 prospect. He is a power threat, as well as a threat to steal bases. His combination of power and speed makes him an intriguing prospect, but he struggled in his first stint in the big leagues.

He went 4-for-24 after he was called up to make his debut. He was sent back to Triple-A and will now look to fill a major void. Judge is arguably the best player in baseball and a multiple-time MVP Award winner.

He is not replaceable, but Jones will have to try to produce in order to help keep the Yankees in the AL East title race. Meanwhile, the Red Sox catch a huge break. They need to start winning to claw back into the postseason picture, and will face the Yankees without their best player.
