Anthony Joshua makes offer to Tyson Fury ahead of mega-fight

Anthony Joshua has offered to help train Tyson Fury to lose weight ahead of their all-British clash later this year.

The 36-year-old will make a return to the ring on Saturday night in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, against Kristian Prenga. ‘AJ’ has not fought since knocking out boxing novice Jake Paul in the sixth round back in December. He had been expected to fight in March, but was involved in a tragic car crash just days after his win over the ‘Problem Child.;

However, seven months on, the Brit will make his highly-anticipated return to the ring. A day before his fight with the Albanian, though, rival Fury is also in action. The ‘Gypsy King’ will take on Mariusz Wach over in Thailand. While the Morecambe brawler has repeatedly played down talks of a fight with Joshua, he still cannot seem to get his rival out of his mind.

Over the years, Fury has tried to spark a verbal war with Joshua, but the latter has risen above it. That said, after being branded a ‘bodybuilder’ for the millionth time, the Watford native just had to bite back.

The 36-year-old offered to help get Fury in shape, stating: “He’s always calling me a bodybuilder, always talking about my body. I don’t know why he worries about it so much.

“After our fights this weekend and even after we fight, I’ll help him sort his body out a bit better so he doesn’t have to worry so much about mine so much. Once we get our fights done, I’ll help with some training so he doesn’t look like ‘Greedy Belly’ anymore and they can call him Mr Bodybuilder instead.”

Providing both men come away from their respective warm-up fights unscathed, they will finally meet in the ring. The pair have been on a collision course for over a decade, but are still yet to settle their difference. The all-British dust-up is expected to take place in November – with the UK the frontrunner to host – or so we thought.

However, recent reports have emerged that the contest could now take place in New York as talks continue over a venue. Saudi boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh is insisting on a late start time in the UK in order to capture the American TV market. This means the clash could be moved over to the US – with promoter Eddie Hearn revealing it could land at Madison Square Garden in New York. “Netflix want the biggest audience possible, and they feel like a mid-afternoon start time in the US will jeopardise the potential to maximise the audience,” he said.

“I think they probably feel like a 2am. start in the UK versus a 10pm start won’t actually change the audience size in the UK.”We’ve had a meeting about this but there’s been nothing in the last two weeks, and I think there’s probably a lot of work behind the scenes now with Turki maybe talking to [London Mayor] Sadiq Khan. But a lot of the Americans want to do it at MSG; not Vegas, they want it at MSG.”
