Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi was among the goalscorers as Fulham came from behind to secure a late 2-1 victory over Portuguese side Farense in their final preseason fixture of the club’s training camp in Portugal.
The Nigerian international produced another composed display in midfield and played a decisive role as the Cottagers concluded their preparations in Portugal for with a confidence-boosting victory.
Fulham fell behind in the first half after Farense took the lead, but Marco Silva’s side responded strongly after the break in search of an equaliser.
Iwobi restored parity in the second half after Emile Smith Rowe was brought down inside the penalty area.
The former Arsenal midfielder calmly stepped up and dispatched the resulting spot-kick into the corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
The goal shifted the momentum in Fulham’s favour as they pushed for a winner during the closing stages of the contest.
Their persistence eventually paid off in the 89th minute when Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz fired into the same corner after Josh King was fouled inside the penalty area, sealing a hard-fought victory for the Premier League side.
Iwobi will be delighted to finish the preseason camp in Portugal on a positive note as he looks to carry his impressive form into the 2026/2027 season.
The 30-year-old enjoyed another productive campaign last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 29 Premier League appearances.
Although Fulham narrowly missed out on a European qualification spot, the Nigerian midfielder remained one of the club’s most consistent performers throughout the season.
With the new campaign fast approaching, Iwobi will be hoping to build on his strong preseason performances and continue playing a key role for Fulham as they target another successful season in the Premier League.
