The Scottish Football Association (SFA) has published the independent review into events at last season’s Scottish Cup quarter-final between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox.
On March 8, the two clubs took part in a highly-fuelled Old Firm clash in Govan, which saw Celtic emerge victorious on penalties after 120 minutes of action.

Following this, supporters of both sides made their way onto the park, which prompted police to form a blockade on the pitch to prevent fans from clashing post-match.
This, alongside other events both pre-and-post-match, prompted the SFA to hire Mark Blackbourne to conduct a review into what occurred, which has been published on Tuesday, July 21.
In Blackbourne’s report, the independent reviewer made 30 unique recommendations regarding numerous aspects of the organisation, planning and carrying out of large-scale events.

Additionally, both Rangers and Celtic have been cited by Scottish football’s governing body for committing Disciplinary Rule 37, with their hearings set to take place on the same day, occurring on Thursday, August 16.
SFA Disciplinary Rule 37 – A club playing a match at its own ground, or allowing its ground to be used for a match in which it is not participating, or a club using a third party’s ground for the playing of a match in which it is participating must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, (i) good order and security; (ii) that policies and procedures have been adopted and are implemented to prevent instances of Unacceptable Conduct; and (iii) that any instance of Unacceptable Conduct is effectively dealt with on the occasion of a match.
Each club participating in a match must also ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that its players, officials, supporters and any person exercising a function for or in connection with the club do not engage in Unacceptable Conduct at any ground on the occasion of a match. Each club must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that it identifies any of its supporters who engage in Unacceptable Conduct at a match take proportionate disciplinary measures in respect of such supporters.
